Malaysia Urges Citizens To Remain Vigilant In West Asia

PUTRAJAYA, April 17 (Bernama) --  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Malaysians residing in or travelling to West Asia, including haj pilgrims, to remain vigilant and to comply with instructions issued by local authorities, despite positive developments following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire beginning April 8.

In a statement, the ministry urged Malaysian citizens to maintain a high level of alertness and to avoid areas of military activity and public gatherings.

It also advised Malaysians to stay informed and be prepared for any flight disruptions, delays, or changes to travel arrangements.

“The Ministry will continue to monitor developments in the region and will update this travel advisory from time to time as necessary.

“The safety and well-being of Malaysian citizens remain the Ministry’s highest priority,” the statement said.

To facilitate the provision of consular assistance, the ministry encouraged Malaysians to register their presence and regularly update their contact details via the e-Konsular portal at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my.

Malaysian citizens are also encouraged to download the ministry’s MyWorldAlert application to receive the latest consular information and to contact the nearest Malaysian diplomatic mission in the event of an emergency.

On April 8, US President Donald Trump announced a two-week suspension of military operations against Iran following mediation by Pakistan.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Supreme National Security Council had declared that Tehran would halt defensive operations if attacks against the country ceased.
