PHNOM PENH, April 24 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The Cambodian government on Friday reiterated its firm commitment to eradicating online scam networks, saying that the kingdom had raided more than 250 online scam centres nationwide over the past nine months, reported Xinhua.
The Southeast Asian country had shut down 91 casinos for operating online scams, the government said in a statement.
"Cambodian authorities have carried out procedures to deport a total of 13,039 foreign nationals involved in online scams of 33 different nationalities," the statement said.
"From mid-January to April 19, 2026, a total of 241,888 individuals had voluntarily departed Cambodia," it added.
Cambodia reaffirmed that combating online scams is a long-term endeavour requiring the involvement of all stakeholders, both locally and internationally, the statement said, urging the public and the international community to recognise and support the country's active and concrete efforts in this regard.
