KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) – China will step up cooperation with Malaysia in high-tech and emerging industries as both countries move to implement outcomes following Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit last year.
Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing said the effort will focus on expanding collaboration in the digital and green economy, while developing new growth drivers in advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence.
“China will work with Malaysia to fully implement the outcomes of President Xi’s visit and continuously tap the potential of cooperation in emerging industries such as the digital economy and green economy,” he said at the China-Malaysia Readers Forum on the English edition of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Volume V on Thursday.
Xi paid a three-day state visit to Malaysia in April last year at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Ouyang said China and Malaysia are also looking to build a regional hub for new quality productive forces, support industrial upgrading and accelerate their modernisation efforts.
He added that China is ready to strengthen policy coordination and deepen exchanges with Malaysia, particularly as both countries embark on new national development plans.
This year marks the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Malaysia’s 13th Malaysia Plan, making it an opportune time to enhance cooperation, he said.
Ouyang said China will continue to leverage its comprehensive industrial system, vast market and strong innovation capacity to support high-quality development and further opening-up.
“China is willing to share its development dividends and provide new opportunities for global growth through Chinese-style modernisation,” he said, adding that the country remains committed to promoting peace, development and win-win cooperation.
Ouyang also said that Malaysians can better understand China’s ideas and governance by reading Xi Jinping: The Governance of China Volume V.
He added that this would help strengthen long-term bilateral ties and support the steady development of China-Malaysia relations.
The book series compiles 470 key works by Xi, outlining the country’s development path and governance approach. The fifth volume, published last year, focuses on the principles and policy direction of Chinese-style modernisation, offering insight into China’s governance in the new era.
Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Board of Governance Chairman Anwar Ridhwan said the agency will publish a translated version of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, with Volume II expected this year following the release of Volume I.
“This book represents more than a translation of language; it is a translation of ideas, perspectives and aspirations across cultures,” he said.
