LONDON, May 10 (Bernama-PA Media/dpa) -- FIFA has confirmed some of the stars who will perform at the World Cup opening ceremonies next month, reported PA Media/dpa.
With the tournament held across three countries, Canada, Mexico and the United States will each host a ceremony ahead of their opening game.
The tournament starts with Mexico v South Africa on June 11, with Canada facing Bosnia and the US starting their campaign against Paraguay the following day.
Katy Perry, Future and Tyla will be among the headliners in Los Angeles, with Alanis Morissette and Michael Buble performing in Toronto earlier on June 12. Alejandro Fernandez, Belinda and Danny Ocean will all perform during the Mexico City ceremony.
“The FIFA World Cup is a moment the world shares, and that begins with how we open it,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
“Starting with Mexico City and continuing the next day with Toronto and Los Angeles, these ceremonies will bring together music, culture and football in a way that reflects both the individuality of each nation and the unity that defines this tournament. It is a powerful way to begin a truly global celebration.”
