BEIJING, May 15 (Bernama-dpa) -- United States (US) President Donald Trump visited China's restricted Zhongnanhai leadership compound on Friday, the final day of his visit to Beijing, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
Photos showed Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping shaking hands in the garden of the high-security government and party leadership complex in the heart of the city.
The agenda included talks over tea, followed by a working lunch.
Trump is due to depart for the US in the afternoon.
Visits by foreign leaders to Zhongnanhai, a former imperial garden next to the famous Forbidden City, are relatively rare.
Then US President Barack Obama walked through the Communist Party's centre of power with Xi in 2014.
More recent guests have included Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko last year and Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2024.
