BAKU, May 22 (Bernama-Azertac) -- The hosting of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Azerbaijan has become a significant indication of the country’s increasing importance as an international hub for global dialogue, Nataly Mouravidze, Head of the EBRD Resident Office in Azerbaijan, said an exclusive interview with Azertac.
According to her, the forum was organised at a very high level and brought together a broad range of participants, enabling substantive and practice-oriented discussions on key issues of sustainable urban development.
She emphasised that following the hosting of COP29, Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its position on the international stage, placing special emphasis on multilateral cooperation in strategically important areas such as housing policy, urban infrastructure resilience, and sustainable urban development.
She viewed these issues are directly linked to long-term economic stability and the quality of life of the population.
“The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development took an active part in the forum: the Bank’s delegation participated in thematic sessions and organised a number of its own events,” she noted.
She also recalled that the EBRD is already implementing concrete sustainable development initiatives in Azerbaijan, including within the framework of the Green Cities programme in Ganja, aimed at supporting environmentally friendly and sustainable urban development.
