PARIS, May 31 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- Unrest is intensifying in Paris after tens of thousands of people took to the streets to celebrate the victory of French football club Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, according to videos published in the media and social networks, reported Sputnik/RIA Novosti.

In different areas of the city, riot instigators light fires on the roads and set fire to cars and bicycles. Thus, one car was burned on Trocadero Square very close to the Eiffel Tower. In addition, several attempts to rob stores were recorded.

The French also clashed with the police, pelting them with fireworks, firecrackers, glass bottles and other things. According to Le Figaro newspaper, a group of people even tried to attack a police station before law enforcement officers dispersed them.

Riots are taking place both in the centre of Paris and on its outskirts. In particular, violent clashes between fans and police took place in the very west of the capital near the Parc des Princes stadium, where the final match was broadcast. There, clashes began even before the end of the Champions League final.

Two people were injured in Paris during the riots, Le Figaro said. One fell into the Seine, and the other was wounded with cold steel. Prior to this, one police officer was also reported injured.

Isolated incidents have also been observed in other cities of France.

Earlier, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said that authorities would use 22,000 law enforcement officers to ensure security in the country on the day of the Champions League final amid possible unrest. Of these, eight thousand will keep order in Paris and its suburbs.
