LONDON, June 7 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Greek island of Euboea or Evia, causing landslides, Anadolu Ajansi reported, citing local media on Sunday.
The first tremor of 4.8 magnitude hit at 12.58 pm local time (10.58 GMT), about 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) south of the site of Prokopi in central Evia at a depth of 5 kilometres (3.1 miles), the public broadcaster ERT reported, citing authorities.
The second and stronger one was a 5.2 magnitude quake, recorded at 13.02 pm (11.03 GMT), widely felt across the island and as far as the capital, Athens.
It causes landslides along roads near the town of Mantoudi.
According to reports, the quakes caused damage to some residential buildings, while the wall of one building completely collapsed.
Inspections are underway to assess further damage to infrastructure and the transportation networks.
