1.PRESIDENT’S VISIT EXPANDS CHINESE TRADE TIES -- VIENTIANE TIMES
Laos and China signed 32 cooperation agreements following talks between Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Friday. Agreements include agriculture, electricity, artificial intelligence and the digital economy.

Laos reduced malaria cases from 15,497 in 2016 to just 269 last year. The decline was due to targeted interventions, effective case management, vector control and community engagement programmes.

1.PROMOTING TRADITIONAL PUPPET MAKING -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR
The Myanmar Cultural Heritage Trust will host the Myanmar traditional puppet-making course in Yangon this year. The 12-month course will include basic techniques, crafting of marionette characters and field study.
2.MYINGYAN PLANT ADVANCES STEEL PRODUCTION -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR
The Myingyan steel mill, which commenced operations in March 2023, has since produced over 28,000 tonnes of steel billets. Indian experts are overseeing the production and operations of the project.
