SHAH ALAM, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has advised the management of the Selangor FC squad, the fan club and fans, especially Ultras Selangor, to be well behaved and avoid any misunderstandings or disputes during their matches.

The Sultan passed on the advice in a letter to the Selangor FC management on Oct 10 in light of the current situation and concern over the intensifying competitive spirit in this season’s Super League competition.

In a Facebook post by the Selangor Royal Office, Sultan Sharafuddin, as the patron of the Football Association of Selangor, expressed his desire that no misunderstandings or disputes on or off the field that could bring about feuds or violence occur.

"His Royal Highness wishes that every player and fan be wise and rational in controlling their emotions so that they do not be taken up by provocations that could bring about negative outcomes,” the post read.

The Sultan also added that winning and losing were part of competitive football but what was more important was that everyone would celebrate the successful team and learn from every defeat.

Sultan Sharafuddin expressed his hope that football remains as a sport that unites the people without any outside influence trying to ruin the sporting spirit.
