PETALING JAYA, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- The 42nd Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) Awards will introduce two new categories - the MSOSH-CUEPACS OSH Award and the MSOSH Public Institution OSH Award - to honour excellent achievements in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the public sector.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said the organisations in the running for the awards have been assessed through detailed and transparent audits.
“This year MSOSH received 256 entries and I hope more organisations will sign up in the future. I congratulate the 10 organisations that are successful in these two new categories,” he said during his speech at the 42nd MSOSH Awards ceremony here today, as he pointed out MSOSH’s vital role in highlighting OSH issues since 1971 and the various initiatives it conducted through the years.
Congress of Union of Employees in the Public and Civil Services Malaysia (CUEPACS) president Datuk Dr Adnan Mat, MSOSH chairman Mohamad Mahathir Mohamed Younos and MSOSH president Ahmad Fakhrul Anuar Ismail were also present at the event.
Ahmad Fakhrul said that this year’s awards encompass the Platinum, Grand, Gold Merit, Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories, which are awarded in recognition of an organisation’s excellent contributions to OSH practices.
The winners include Petron Fuel International Sdn Bhd, Kuantan Terminal, winning the Platinum award, which has not been awarded since 2007, while UiTM Shah Alam’s OKU Services and Development Division is the only recipient of the MSOSH Public Institution OSH Award.
Meanwhile, 10 organisations, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Historic Melaka City Council, were chosen to receive the 2024 MSOSH-CUEPACS OSH Awards.
