KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The legendary Boney M, a hugely popular band of the 1970s disco era, is set to perform in Malaysia on Jan 12 at Mega Star Arena, Kuala Lumpur, as part of their golden jubilee celebration.
Concert Organisers Lo-Fi Entertainment and Front Row Entertainment said Boney M still holds an extraordinary charm every time they perform on tour.
“Maizie Williams, who leads the performance, still has the ability to captivate audiences of all ages with Boney M's timeless and energetic hits and thrilling dance moves.
“Popular Boney M songs such as ‘Daddy Cool’, ‘Sunny’, ‘Ma Baker’, ‘Rasputin’, ‘Hooray! Hooray! It's a Holi-Holiday’, ‘Brown Girl in the Ring’ and many others that have been favourites since the 1970s continue to be enjoyed by fans,” they said in a statement.
Boney M's career began when the late music producer Frank Farian released the song ‘Baby Do You Wanna Bump’ under a pseudonym.
Unexpectedly, the song received an enthusiastic response, prompting him to hire Maizie Williams for live performances.
Later joining Maizie Williams were Marcia Barrett, Liz Mitchell and the late Bobby Farrell.
From Europe, Boney M's style and music quickly gained worldwide attention, their album sales breaking records and establishing them as top entertainers.
Tickets, priced between RM188 and RM688 (VIP), are available at www.ticketingtix.com and www.frontrow.asia starting at noon on Friday (Nov 15).
