KOTA BHARU, Nov 19 (Bernama) -- The General Operations Force (GOF) foiled two attempts to smuggle cosmetic products with the seizure of items worth over RM60,000 in Pasir Mas yesterday.

GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid said that in the first seizure, the 7th Battalion was conducting patrol under the Kelantan Op Taring Wawasan when they stumbled on several boxes near the Jeram Perdah 2 illegal base at about 8.30 pm.

"Upon inspection, the boxes were found to contain cosmetic products, namely the Misaki brand of face cream and soap believed to be from Thailand, which had no valid documents. The items are believed to be for the local market and the total seizure is valued at RM55,000,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, the 9th Battalion seized various cosmetic products without valid documents, believed to be from Thailand, near the Pohon Jambu illegal base at 2.45 am and the total seizure is valued at RM7,100.

"In this incident, the GOF personnel saw several men transferring boxes near the illegal base. However, the men managed to flee to Thailand by boat,” he said.

The items seized were taken to the Jeram Perdah and Rantau Panjang Komtak and investigations are being conducted under Section 135 (1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967.
