Sales Restriction On 3 Developers For Failing To Build Affordable Homes - Johor Exco

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Johor government has issued a caveat or sales restriction notice to three developers for failing to develop affordable homes in the state, said Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.

He said the developers should have complied with this requirement by the Evaluation, Planning, and Development Committee (PDRC).

Mohd Jafni said the developers are only allowed to sell the properties that they have developed once they fulfil the commitment that they have made to build affordable housing in the state.

"We are not imposing the caveat on just one development project, but on the developers' entire projects in the state, with the enforcement having been carried out since last year," he told reporters on the sideline of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting at the Sultan Ismail Building today.

According to him, developers must comply with the Johor state government's Affordable Housing Policy, which requires them to build affordable homes for every free-market housing development in the state.

Mohd Jafni, also Bukit Permai assemblyman, said so far, PDRC has met with 100 developers to issue reminders regarding the construction of affordable homes, adding that half of the developers have committed to building affordable housing in the relevant category next year.
