KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The Citrawarna Kampong Bharu Festival, held for the first time to mark the 125th anniversary of the area, aims to celebrate and promote Kampong Bharu as a tourism destination rich in history and Malay heritage.

The festival, organised by OMNI Holdings Sdn Bhd and running for three days since last Friday, featured a variety of exciting activities, including a walking tour exhibition of Kampong Bharu's history, traditional cultural performances, and a historical reenactment exhibition.

OMNI Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director, Omar Abbas said that the initiative aimed to strengthen the relationship between local residents, government agencies, and the community, as well as introduce Kampong Bharu as a unique tourist destination.

"Kampong Bharu is a gem of Malay heritage in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. In addition to showcasing the heritage of this area, the festival also offers local and international visitors the chance to better understand the uniqueness of Kampong Bharu.

"If we look at the Saloma bridge, which is used by hundreds of tourists daily, it not only serves as a strategic connection but also provides a platform with potential to be developed as a tourist attraction in the area," he said when met by reporters at the closing ceremony of the Citrawarna Kampong Bharu Festival in Commemoration of 125 Years today.

He also suggested that Kampong Bharu be developed as a tourism product under the concept of ‘one village, one product’, given that Kampong Bharu comprises seven villages with potential for development.
