CAIRO, Dec 29 (Bernama-SPA) -- Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation forces’ burning of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, after storming it, which led to the death of medical staff, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Aboul Gheit issued a statement in which he stressed that the war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza will not be forgotten and that the international silence in the face of these crimes is a stain on humanity’s conscience.
He pointed out that targeting the hospital and its staff and laying siege to it for weeks is proof of an unprecedented disregard for international law and rules of conduct in times of war.
He stressed that the 450-day war on Gaza has reached a horrific stage, with children dying of cold and medical staff getting burned.
He added that the global silence on the crimes committed will lead to the collapse of the world order based on international humanitarian law, particularly after the blatant failure to protect civilians from being killed or tortured.
