KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 (Bernama) – The animated film Dongeng Sang Kancil successfully unearthed local talent in the field of 2.5D animation, which combines 3D and 2D animation techniques.
Executive Producer of Dongeng Sang Kancil, who is also the Founder and Managing Director of Les’ Copaque Production, Burhanuddin Md Radzi, said the 2.5D animation technique used in the film represents a new innovation in the local animation industry.
“I am proud that all the research and development for this film was conducted by the Les Copaque Production crew, all of whom are local artistes.
"Furthermore, the film's production, originally projected to take three years, was completed in just one and a half years, setting a new benchmark in the local film industry," he said during his appearance on Bernama TV's Apa Khabar Malaysia programme, where he discussed Dongeng Sang Kancil earlier today.
Dongeng Sang Kancil is directed by Ahmad Razuri Roseli, who also lent his voice to the character Raja Buaya (King Crocodile). The voice cast includes Nini (Sang Kancil), Dinda Dania (Rabbit), Loke Keng Sun (Squirrel), Md Fadzrian Ildzan (Jungle Elephant), and Muhammad Hafiz Hassan (Mighty Eagle).

Premiered nationwide on Dec 26, the 90-minute film follows the journey of a deer determined to avenge her mother’s brutal killing by a dark shadow.
Burhanuddin underscored the critical role of trust in fostering local talent, emphasising that company management must have unwavering confidence in their potential.
"If we don't place trust in them, we can't help them grow. For instance, my company focuses on nurturing local talent by providing them with opportunities and training. This approach has produced around 200 skilled professionals across various fields.
"Local talents often grapple with an 'inferiority complex,' believing that Hollywood is inherently superior. However, when we instil confidence in them, they come to realise that they are equally capable of creating exceptional work," he said.
Additionally, Burhanuddin said that his company is set to launch an Upin & Ipin video game on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms by mid-year.
“The programme is complete and is currently being tested in Japan. We hope to launch it on a global scale in June or July,” he said, adding that he also aims to build an Upin & Ipin Theme Park.
