KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 20 (Bernama) – ‘Tamil School Pasanga’, produced by popular local Tamil actor R. Denes Kumar and his wife Dr Vimala Perumal, is set to release nationwide on Jan 23.
The movie, filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, focuses on the experiences of students and educators and their dedication to fostering the growth of Tamil schools.
“The film celebrates the cultural identity of Tamil schools, emphasising their importance in shaping young minds while addressing the struggles within these institutions,” Denes, who plays the lead role of a passionate school teacher, told Bernama after the gala premiere of the movie at Lalaport, Bukit Bintang, on Jan 16. It was attended by MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, local celebrities and social media influencers.
Produced by Denes’ Veedu Production Sdn Bhd, the film features a stellar ensemble cast of Vidia Liana, Kuben Mahadevan, Ben-G, Yasmin Nadiah, Malarvizhi and Veerasingam, among others.
Directed by Shan, the movie is complemented by music from Shameshan and editing by Anand Geraldin.
Describing the film as "an unforgettable journey through Tamil school life", Denes hoped it would resonate with audiences, especially educators, parents and children.

Malaysian Tamil School Headmasters Association chairman SS Pandian, who attended the premiere, praised the film as a heartfelt story that beautifully captures the struggles of Tamil schools and the dedication of their teachers.
“It’s a must-watch for everyone as it offers a powerful message about creativity and caring teaching methods,” he said.
Meanwhile, local actress Moon Nila said ‘Tamil School Pasanga’ is not just a movie but a celebration of the culture, resilience and dedication that define Tamil schools.
“It's a must-watch for anyone who values education and the community,” she added.
