Melly Goeslaw's 'Prom Nite' Slated For May 31

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- Popular Indonesian composer and singer Melly Goeslaw's upcoming concert at Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil here on May 31 will feature the theme, ‘Prom Nite'. 

Her ‘Ada Apa Dengan Melly..? Prom Nite’ concert, organised by Icon Entertainment, promises to showcase “something new and special”.

Known for her unique fashion sense, Melly, whose full name is Meliana Cessy Goeslaw, created a sensation through the two concerts she had held earlier in Malaysia, namely ‘Ada Apa Dengan Melly (Back To School)’ and ‘Ada Apa Dengan Melly & Friends (Graduation Night)’, held in Feb 2023 and June 2024 respectively.

"This surprise (I’ve in store during my May 31 concert) is something that has never been done in Malaysia or Indonesia. We’re trying not to disappoint the fans who come. There will be a gimmick, something special for the audience. It’s definitely going to be amazing.

"At the event, we will also crown a Prom King and Queen. It will surely be a lively dance party," she said during a press conference yesterday.

When asked about her preparations for the concert, the 51-year-old singer of hits such as ‘Ku Bahagia’ and ‘Ketika Cinta Bertasbih’ said she needs to lose three kilogrammes to be more energetic for the event.

"The theme is a party, so there will be lots of upbeat, jump-inducing songs. I need to lose weight to make it easier for me to dance with my fans," she said.

Melly also revealed she is once again collaborating with renowned fashion designer Ezuwan Ismail for her costumes.

Meanwhile, Icon Entertainment founder Iman Tang said following the 'Back to School’ concert, they had 'Graduation Night' and “now it is time for 'Prom Nite', symbolising the final night of school. Concert-goers can come all dressed up.

"Consider 'Prom Nite' as a reunion with friends who attended the previous two concerts," Tang said.
