SEPANG, Jan 26 (Bernama) – National Muay Thai star, Muhamad Johan Ghazali Zulfikar, is determined not to let history repeat itself and is eager to avenge his loss to Johan Estupinan of Colombia.

Muhamad Johan, affectionately known as Jojo, hopes to bring his A-game in their next bout, scheduled for later this year.

“There will definitely be a rematch (with Estupinan), and my goal is to win that fight.

“For now, I’m not sure when the rematch will take place. It might be in the next game or at the end of the year, but I hope it happens at the end of the year,” he said upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) today.

Jojo’s hopes of tarnishing Estupinan’s unbeaten record were dashed when he lost in the ONE 170 bout at Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, last Friday.

Despite the defeat, the 19-year-old athlete gave a commendable performance, putting up a fierce fight against his opponent in the three-round flyweight category contest, before losing via the judges’ decision.

The Sarawak native expressed satisfaction with his improvement during the fight, especially in terms of kicks and movement.

However, Jojo admitted there is still much to work on if he aims to be a world-class fighter.

“In the next fight, I’ll focus on being all-rounded, especially improving my hands, legs, elbows—everything.

“Of course, the opponents I will face next won’t be ordinary. So, I need to be well-prepared,” he said.
