KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) plan to hire one more men's doubles coach to further strengthen the department.
BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh said this was because doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky wants to ensure that every men's pair gets equal attention and for a more comprehensive monitoring.
"I can confirm that there is a request from Rexy to add another coach.
"We are interviewing several candidates,” he said when met after the Thailand SEA Games team managers’ meeting at Wisma OCM (Olympic Council of Malaysia) today.
Meanwhile, Kenny said the decision was also made after finding the ratio of coaches to players was imbalanced.
"As things stand, we have two coaches for 10 pairs. So, clearly, we need to increase the number of coaches to ensure training can be conducted in a more focused and effective manner,” he said.
Asked to comment on the final list of players set to represent the country at the Dec 9-20 Thailand SEA Games, Kenny said an official announcement will be made by Saturday, at the latest.
