Strong Winds: Woman, KAFA Pupils Injured As Roof Collapses In Banting

SHAH ALAM, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- A 51-year-old woman was injured after being trapped under the collapsed roof of Dewan Wawasan Kampung Medan, Telok Panglima Garang, Banting, which also houses the Sijangkang State Constituency Coordinator’s office, near here today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the hall’s roof collapsed following heavy rain and strong winds this evening.

He said in the incident, the roof of another premises located next to the hall, which housed a Kelas Al-Quran dan Fardu Ain (KAFA) surau, also collapsed, causing at least seven pupils to sustain minor injuries.

He said his department received a distress call at 4.24 pm before deploying a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle with seven personnel to the scene.

“Upon arrival, we found a victim, a 51-year-old woman, trapped under the debris. She sustained injuries to her waist and thigh but was conscious. The woman was successfully rescued at 5.05 pm,” he said.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the woman and the injured KAFA pupils were sent to the hospital for treatment.
