PUTRAJAYA, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2025 is forecasted to grow 5.2 per cent, showing that the nation’s economy continues to expand rapidly, particularly in the construction and services sectors.

MADANI government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who is also Minister of Communications, said the latest forecast exceeded an earlier 4.8 per cent growth projection despite ongoing global political and trade uncertainties.

“Even with geopolitical and international trade issues that appear unstable, Malaysia’s economy remains on a strong growth path, especially in the construction and services sectors,” he said at a weekly press conference here today.

In this regard, Fahmi said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has requested that the manufacturing sector receive special attention to ensure the various challenges posed by the current geopolitical and trade environment can be better managed.

Malaysia’s economy is projected to grow 5.2 per cent in the third quarter of 2025, an increase from 4.4 per cent growth in the previous quarter, according to initial GDP estimates released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

In a statement today, Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the growth was supported by strong performance across all major sectors, with domestic demand remaining the main driver of growth, particularly in tourism-related activities during public and school holidays.
