PETALING JAYA, Oct 24 (Bernama) – Popular sibling trio KRU is set to create another milestone in their musical journey with the StarKRUise Showcase — a special performance aboard a luxury cruise ship sailing from Phuket to Singapore in January next year.

Group member Datuk Norman Abdul Halim said the one-hour performance will mark the beginning of their 2026 activities following the success of their recent GenKRU concert.

He said the event offers fans a rare opportunity to interact closely with the group in a relaxed atmosphere while enjoying a five-day, four-night luxury cruise together.

“This event is more of a fan engagement experience — besides the showcase, we’ll also be joining leisure activities on the ship. It’s not mandatory, but it would be a waste to spend five days and four nights there without doing something together.

“It’s not a full concert, just a one-hour showcase — but it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us too. We want to offer something different, maybe songs inspired by the sea or nostalgic moments from our career, as we don’t want to repeat the same setlist as before,” he told Bernama after the event’s press conference in Damansara here.

In May, the group — which also includes Datuk Yusry and Edry — made history when they earned two Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) titles for the most performances in a concert series and fastest ticket sales within one hour during their GenKRU 2025 Concert.

Norman said the cruise showcase marks the beginning of their 2026 plans, with more exciting activities lined up for fans next year.

“God willing, for now, we’ll focus on this first — the luxury cruise showcase… let us get on board first,”  he said. “At the same time, we’re also preparing for GenKRU The Finale next month.”

He added that KRU is now in a phase where they can carefully choose projects that bring genuine value and new experiences for both the group and their fans.

“Now we can pick and choose what we want to do. If something feels repetitive, we’ll skip it. We want projects that are exclusive, different, and meaningful for fans,” he said, adding that each future performance will feature a unique concept to ensure every KRU experience remains special and memorable.

Meanwhile, Edry said one of their upcoming plans for next year is to showcase the individual strengths of each KRU member, who are often seen as a single unit.

“People see KRU as three brothers, but within KRU, there’s Norman, Yusry, and Edry. So next year, we might explore more of that — not just as a group, but as three distinct personalities with their own identities,” he said.
