KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Aide-de-Camp to the King of Malaysia, Datuk Mohd Azani Omar has been appointed as the new Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief, effective today.

The 51-year-old Kelantan native replaces Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad, who retired upon reaching compulsory retirement age today.

The handing-over-of-duties ceremony at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) here today, was witnessed by Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus and attended by senior police officers and personnel.

The ceremony also saw the handover of duties for the position of Kuala Lumpur Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief between ACP Anuwal Ab Wahab and ACP Wong Yuen Chuan, as well as the Dang Wangi district police chief from SAC Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman to ACP Sazalee Adam.

Sulizmie Affendy will begin his new posting as the police Aide-de-Camp to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia.

In his speech, Fadil said the promotions reflected recognition of the officers’ hard work, commitment, and contributions to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the country.

“With this promotion, may everyone continue to be more dedicated and progressive in carrying out your duties and responsibilities to the community, the nation, and the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Usuf, who retired after 37 years with PDRM, said his career had been filled with invaluable memories.

“Throughout my service, I experienced many highs and lows together with the force, and those memories are something I can never repay,” he said.
