Fashionably Modest Asia 2025 Redefines Modest Fashion

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Fashionably Modest Asia (FMA) 2025, set to take place from Nov 18 to 20 at Pavilion Arena, Pavilion Damansara Heights, will serve as a vibrant platform to empower and celebrate the diversity and elegance of modest fashion across ASEAN.

Founded on the belief that true style emerges from comfort, confidence, and cultural expression, FMA 2025 highlights modest wear as a symbol of quiet strength and the modern identity of today’s women.

FMA Lifestyle Adviser Andrew Tan said the event was designed to showcase how culture, artistry and fashion can coexist harmoniously in today’s world.

He said every designer featured this year represents a new chapter in how modest fashion is expressed, not as imitation, but as liberation and self-expression.

“Through their collections, we see confidence, cultural storytelling, and restraint as a form of strength. Fashionably Modest Asia exists to open conversations, introduce new aesthetics, and prove that modest fashion can be as bold, progressive, and desirable as any global trend,” he said in his opening remarks at the launch of FMA 2025 recently.

Tan added that the modern fashion industry is expanding at an extraordinary speed and is no longer defined by geography, but by attitude.

“From Southeast Asia to Europe, from the Americas to the Middle East, fashion has evolved from private identity to public influence. It is now a global conversation about choice, comfort, and cultural pride.

“In that evolution, Asia has an extraordinary voice, young, diverse, and deeply creative. This platform serves as a connector, linking creativity to opportunity, from local craftsmanship to international curiosity,” he said.

He also noted that the collaboration between FMA and beauty brand Wardah will further strengthen efforts to introduce Southeast Asian talent to global audiences, especially in the Middle East, while preserving the beauty of cultural dialogue.

“Modest fashion is about balance between visibility and individuality, between self-expression and respect. It reminds us that fashion can express power without shouting, and elegance without force,” said Tan, describing the event as the beginning of a movement rooted in creativity, humility, and authenticity.

The event will open with a curated showcase by renowned stylist Min Luna, featuring designs by Malaysian labels such as TACT, Ezzati Amira, Hasz Hisham, Shaz Nash, Afiq M, Bev C, SVG, Huntilanak, and Behati.

FMA 2025 will also spotlight cross-cultural collaboration through the participation of regional designers, including Na Forrér of Brunei, Chris Nick (the Philippines), Khaar (Vietnam), and Indonesia’s Benang Jarum, reflecting a growing commitment to sustainable and inclusive fashion across the region.

Wardah, the official makeup and beauty partner, will lead discussions on beauty and empowerment through its initiative The Season Within: Redefining Beauty, alongside the launch of its latest Colourfit range featuring brand ambassador Mira Filzah, whose real name is Nur Amirah Filzah Badioezaman.

Meanwhile, Mira Filzah, 32, described modest fashion as a form of self-expression that highlights grace, confidence and the quiet strength of modern women — without excess or exaggeration.

“For me, modest doesn’t mean covering every inch of your body in a strict or formal way,” she said. “It can be expressed through simple, effortless styles — oversized jackets, loose cuts and soft fabrics that are both modest and modern.”

The actress, known for her role in the drama series Mandul Bukan Pilihan, added that modest fashion is no longer just a trend but a reflection of how women today express their individuality within cultural and social spaces.
