SHAH ALAM, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- A 34-year-old man with a long criminal record was arrested early today following a brazen escape that injured a policeman during a failed arrest attempt at a petrol station in Klang yesterday.
North Klang district police Chief ACP Ramli Kasa said the suspect, linked to a robbery in Subang Jaya, resisted arrest at around 2.30 pm at a petrol station along Persiaran Raja Muda Musa.
“He pushed the policeman, fled in his car, collided with a police vehicle, and nearly ran over the policeman’s leg before abandoning the vehicle,” Ramli said in a statement.
The suspect was eventually apprehended at 12.45 am in Bandar Bukit Tinggi. Police records show he has 20 previous criminal convictions and five drug-related records.
Investigations are ongoing into his possible involvement in other crimes, Ramli said.
The injured policeman was treated at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, he added.
