KOTA KINABALU, Nov 18 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates for the 17th Sabah State Election are contesting on the basis of fulfilling promises and ensuring continuity of momentum built on the cooperation between the federal government and the Sabah government.
PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar said this approach is more meaningful than making new promises, as voters have the right to assess PH’s capability based on actions taken and results delivered.
“It is important that we do not talk about offering the moon and the stars or the entire universe, but instead focus on concrete realisation,” she told reporters after the Ziarah Tunai Janji programme in Kampung Dambai, Inanam, together with PH candidate for the Inanam state seat Datuk Peto Galim today.
Nurul Izzah, who is also PKR joint election director, said PH’s track record could be seen in its swift response to assist fire victims in the village, including providing a new housing site, as well as its efforts to gazette Kampung Kionsom as a traditional village.
“The prompt and comprehensive measures to provide a housing site to replace homes destroyed by fire were not easy to implement. I also appreciate Datuk Peto’s efforts to gazette Kampung Kionsom.
“This was not done during the election period. It is important that we fulfil promises, at the same time, create room for us to move to the next phase in realising the hopes of the people of Sabah, insya-Allah,” she said.
Nurul Izzah also called on voters to examine and compare the performance records of all parties that have governed Sabah, so that their choice in this election is based on proven achievements and not mere rhetoric.
In the ongoing state polls, Peto is facing a 13-cornered fight to defend the Inanam seat, which is under the Sepanggar parliamentary constituency.
Polling has been fixed for Nov 29, and early voting is on Nov 25.
