Malaysia Set To Host Actor Vijay’s 'Jana Nayagan' Audio Launch On Dec 27

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is set to host one of this year’s biggest South Asian entertainment events when popular South Indian actor-turned-politician Vijay attends the audio launch of his upcoming movie ‘Jana Nayagan’ (People’s Hero) at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Dec 27.

The mega event, organised by Malik Streams Corporation, is expected to draw over 85,000 people, making it the largest gathering of Vijay’s fans outside India.

The 10-hour ‘Thalapathy Thiruvizha’ celebration will feature 30 singers, live performances by music director Anirudh Ravichander, appearances by top artistes from India and Malaysia, and more than 40 songs from Vijay’s films, including tracks from his 69th film ‘Jana Nayagan’.

Malik Streams Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Malik Dasthigeer, who met Vijay personally to secure Malaysia as the host destination, said the country was chosen due to its status as the largest Vijay fan base outside India

“Malaysia is ready to welcome Vijay with the biggest celebration outside India. The tourism and economic benefits will be significant,” he told Bernama when contacted.

He said the initial plan was to hold the audio launch in Dubai, but he convinced the team to bring it to Malaysia and Vijay agreed.

He added that the event will be broadcast globally via satellite and digital platforms, placing Malaysia on the world map and boosting Kuala Lumpur’s profile as a hub for South Asian entertainment.

The celebration is also expected to generate strong tourism spillover ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Vijay — one of Tamil cinema’s highest-paid and most influential stars — recently launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). He has been announced as the party’s official chief minister candidate for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

His appearance in Bukit Jalil is expected to be among his final major film-related events before transitioning into politics.

Malik Streams Corporation has also secured the Malaysian distribution rights for ‘Jana Nayagan’.

The movie, produced by KVN Productions, is scheduled for release on Jan 9, 2026.

Vijay, 50, fondly known worldwide among his fans as ‘Thalapathy’ (Commander), plays the lead role in ‘Jana Nayagan’ alongside Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol.
