Sabah Polls: Early Voting For 24,426 Military, Police Personnel And Spouses Tomorrow

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The heat of the 17th Sabah State Election is increasingly being felt, as a total of 24,426 early voters are set to cast their ballots tomorrow.

Of the total, 11,697 early voters comprise military personnel and their spouses, while the remaining 12,729 involve police personnel and their spouses.

A total of 58 early voting centres will open simultaneously across the state starting at 8 am, before closing in stages.

Among the locations for the early voting centres are the state contingent police headquarters here, the district police headquarters, and military camps throughout the state.

The counting of ballot papers will only be carried out on polling day, Nov 29.

With the completion of early voting tomorrow, the focus will then shift to polling day, scheduled for this Saturday.

This state election sees a total of 596 candidates contesting 73 state seats, with 74 of them running as Independent candidates.

The campaign period for the state polls began on Nov 15 and will end at 11.59 pm on Nov 28.
