Petronas Denies Bangladesh Football League Sponsorship Claim

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- Petronas has denied claims circulating on social media alleging that it is the title sponsor of the Bangladesh Football League.

In a statement today, the national oil and gas company said: “We wish to confirm that Petronas has not entered into any sponsorship agreement for the Bangladesh Football League, nor have we authorised the use of our name or brand in connection with this league.”

Petronas said it takes the integrity of its brand seriously and remains focused on delivering value to its stakeholders and the communities where it operates.

Rumours of Petronas entering into a partnership with the Bangladesh Football League had gone viral on social media since last night, following reports on several local sports portals regarding the matter.

This drew the attention of various quarters, with some questioning Petronas’ decision not to sponsor the domestic league but instead opting to become a sponsor of a foreign competition.
