23/11/2025 06:51 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Top national mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei clinched their second title of the season with a dominant victory in the 2025 Australian Open in Sydney today.

The reigning world champions and top seeds were in fine form as they dispatched the second-seeded Jafar Hidayatullah-Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu of Indonesia 21-16, 21-11 in just 42 minutes in the Super 500 final at the Quaycentre, Olympic Boulevard.

The win marks Tang Jie-Ee Wei’s fifth straight victory over the world number 11 Indonesians.

This is also Tang Jie-Ee Wei’s third final appearance this year, following their World Championships triumph in August.

Today’s win earned the Malaysians USD37,525 (about RM155,835).

Ee Wei, meanwhile, attributed the compatibility and trust between them as the key factor to maintaining consistent performance on the court, thus leading to them winning the Australian Open.

“In today’s match, we continued to trust each other. Thank you to our coach for always supporting us and thank you to our team and all the fans. Your cheers give us strength and motivation,” Ee Wei said in a statement shared by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) today.
