PARIT, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The Perak government, through the State Education Department (JPN), will take necessary measures to ensure that all Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates affected by the floods in the state are able to sit for the examination without any disruption.

State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah said the measures include working with agencies to evacuate candidates from flood-hit areas and bring them to examination centres safely and in an orderly manner.

“I have instructed the Perak JPN Assessment and Examination Sector to take all necessary measures, including cooperating with relevant agencies, to ensure that all affected SPM candidates can sit for the examination like other candidates.

“Currently, all districts affected by the floods have SPM candidates, and we are gathering complete data to formulate a more effective contingency plan,” he said after the Seri Iskandar National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) 2025 Community Impact Programme in Kampung Tanjung Medan here today.

At the programme, more than 40 IKBN Seri Iskandar students took part in a community service initiative to clean the home of a single mother, Faridah Abdullah, in the village.

Khairudin said he had also instructed district education offices and schools to provide counselling for candidates facing emotional stress, while ensuring their concentration on the examinations remained unaffected.

Perak is among the states most severely affected by the floods, with more than 1,000 victims placed in 16 relief centres in Manjung, Perak Tengah, Larut-Matang-Selama and Batang Padang.
