KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- Maxis Berhad (Maxis), in collaboration with the Centre for Foundation Studies in Science, Universiti Malaya (PASUM), organised a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) camp for secondary school students under the Maxis eKelas Menuju Gemilang 2025 programme.
Maxis, in a statement, informed that the 18-month programme, launched last July together with the Ministry of Education (KPM), targets high-potential students to help them excel in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination and further their studies to a higher level.
The two-day STEM camp was attended by 85 Form Four students from secondary schools around the Klang Valley, who were selected based on their academic performance, co-curricular involvement, and leadership potential.
Maxis' Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Azizul Abdul Rahman, said the collaboration helps to nurture students' ambitions and strengthen their co-curricular development, aligning with the brand promise, 'Tomorrow Starts Today'.
"We hope this programme can provide them with the necessary guidance and confidence to take the next step in their academic journey," he said.
Meanwhile, PASUM Executive Director, Prof Dr Farazila Yusof, said the initiative is in line with PASUM's mission to advance education and produce a generation of innovators capable of contributing to national development.
The programme includes various STEM workshops such as Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) extraction, skin lotion making, a spaghetti tower challenge, a chemical treasure hunt, and a session on Artificial Intelligence.
Participants also took part in a campus tour and sessions with Maxis and PASUM regarding academic options, career development, and self-confidence.
