KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- The Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) clarified that letters related to the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA) are being sent out in stages to 5.4 million recipients nationwide to ensure every recipient is aware that they are eligible for the aid provided by the MADANI Government.

The Corporate Communications Unit of JPM's ICU stated in a release that this is a government effort to ensure that those who are truly eligible can benefit from SARA, which aims to ease their burden of the cost of living.

“We take note of the issue regarding the letter received by SARA recipients. Under the MADANI Government, an allocation of RM5 billion is provided for SARA to 5.4 million recipients nationwide.

"Hence, the government is implementing the notification process for the SARA programme's implementation, similar to the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) implemented annually, to ensure that the aid truly reaches the targeted groups," the statement read.

The statement mentioned that the government will continue to improve the implementation of SARA from time to time so that every form of aid not only lightens the burden but also genuinely makes a difference in the lives of the recipients.

According to the JPM ICU, all improvements, such as the expansion of product categories and the involved shops and supermarkets, will continue to be implemented to ensure that the well-being of the people is always prioritised.

A letter regarding the matter went viral on social media, where it was claimed to be an attempt to fish for votes ahead of the Sabah State Election this Saturday.
