SEREMBAN, Nov 28 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan Health Department seized unregistered health and cosmetic products worth over RM80,000 in a raid here yesterday.
In a statement today, it said eight premises were targeted by the Pharmacy Enforcement Division following public complaints, yielding 200 types of suspected illegal products, including scheduled poisons and unnotified cosmetics.
The health department said the outlets were frequented by consumers, particularly non-citizens, and that the offences breached national drug and cosmetic regulations.
Offenders face fines of up to RM25,000 or three years’ imprisonment for individuals, and up to RM50,000 for companies, while violations under the Poisons Act carry up to five years’ jail, a fine, or both.
The department warned the public to verify product registration on the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) website. Dubious products can be reported via the Public Complaints Management System (SisPAA), the hotline 03-7841 3200, or any local Pharmacy Enforcement Division.
