MELAKA, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI), through its subsidiary DMDI Ventures, has launched its first electrical goods store that features the Selamat brand.

DMDI Ventures manager Datuk Norsabrina Mohd Noor said the opening of the maiden outlet is a strategic move to strengthen the supply chain for 100 per cent locally branded electrical hardware, which is gaining more traction in both the domestic and international markets.

“This is the result of a strategic partnership with May Quality Industries, a Muar, Johor-based electrical goods manufacturer established in in 1999. The products sold are of high quality, having long been exported to the United States, Saudi Arabia and other countries.

“Our confidence also stems from the quality and compliance of each product with the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) standards,” she said after the DMDI Ventures electrical store’s opening ceremony, officiated by the Yang Dipertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, who is also DMDI president, at Kota Cemerlang, Ayer Keroh, yesterday.

Norsabrina said the store offers more than 260 different electrical products, ranging from electrical supplies such as cables, sockets, fuses, and industrial hardware to household appliances such as fans, electric kettles, and rice cookers.

She said that with competitive pricing, the outlet is also capable of becoming an electrical goods supply centre for contractors, maintenance companies, electrical consulting firms, small and medium enterprises, government agencies, and state government subsidiaries.

“We will expand our product range from time to time based on the needs of contractors and industry players, including audio equipment, televisions, and air conditioners.

“We are planning to open more branches. Meanwhile, we believe the current outlet will create job opportunities for local youths, in addition to contributing to Melaka’s economic ecosystem through increased retail demand and provision of support for trade between contractors and local manufacturers,” she said.
