JKMR Submits 2024 Annual Report To PM Anwar

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- The Special Committee on Corruption (JKMR) today submitted its 2024 Annual Report to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

This is in accordance with its responsibilities under Section 14 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (Act 694), which mandates the committee to advise the Prime Minister on any matters relating to corruption issues in Malaysia.

The presentation included JKMR’s review of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Annual Report, covering aspects of enforcement, prevention and management, as well as inspection findings from the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board’s 2024 review.

“JKMR also submitted recommendations to the Prime Minister on efforts to strengthen the overall effectiveness of the MACC, in a comprehensive and holistic manner, in line with the nation’s commitment to combating corruption, and enhancing integrity in public administration. This includes a proposal to establish an Anti-Corruption Services Commission,” it said in a statement, today.

“JKMR hopes that each recommendation presented in this report will be given due consideration, and be translated into impactful and comprehensive actions for the benefit of the nation,” the committee said, in a statement, today.

JKMR added that its members, who are elected representatives and serve as the voice of the community, welcome views and suggestions from the public to help strengthen the MACC’s effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate.
