KUALA LUMPUR Dec 12 (Bernama) -- A total of 859 job opportunities specifically for the disabled community will be offered at the “ LINDUNG Kerjaya MYFutureJobs” Carnival organised by the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), which will be held on Dec 16 and 17 at Aloft Kuala Lumpur.
PERKESO, in a statement, said the carnival is one of the agency’s largest initiatives to support the career development of persons with disabilities (PwDs), in line with its commitment to promoting inclusivity and equitable economic opportunities for all.
According to the statement, the job opportunities are offered by 24 employers from various sectors, thus opening up a wider space for PwDs to step into a more stable and dignified career world.
“All of these positions are specifically for PwDs, with more than 45 per cent of them involving executive and management-level positions, thus reflecting PERKESO’s determination in providing high-quality job opportunities, not just in terms of numbers.
“The majority of the vacancies are in the accommodation and food and beverage services sectors, involving 546 positions, followed by other services sectors (123), wholesale and retail trade (64), finance and insurance or takaful (50) and education (28), while the rest cover various other sectors,” the statement said.
According to PERKESO, major employers participating in the carnival include Maybank, Padini Holdings Berhad, Aeon Co. (M) Berhad, Genashtim Sdn Bhd and GD Express Sdn Bhd — all of which are committed to hiring qualified job seekers with disabilities.
One of the highest-paying roles offered at the carnival is the Independent Verification Analyst (IVA) position by Genashtim Sdn Bhd, with a salary range of RM4,000 to RM4,999.
PERKESO will also provide a comprehensive support system throughout the event, including career counselling, job matching and intensive resume building assistance by its Employment Services Officers.
In addition, the strategic collaboration with the Public Services Commission (SPA) enables PwD job seekers to undergo profiling sessions for civil service positions, as well as attend interviews for MySTEP placements.
Visitors from the PwD community will also have access to the OKU Card and EPOKU registration services from the Social Welfare Department (JKM), alongside exhibitions and sales of PwD-made products involving MENTARI, Daya Klang Workshop, Community Centres (PDK) and PwD non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The carnival also featured a 'Pocket Talk' session, showcasing inspiring sharing from individuals with disabilities who have succeeded in their respective careers, in addition to providing sign language interpreter services to accommodate individuals with disabilities in the speech and hearing categories.
Socso encourages all job seekers with disabilities to pre-register via the website www.myfuturejobs.gov.my/careerfair to streamline entry and job-matching processes throughout the carnival.
