SEOUL, Jan 16 (Bernama-Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Group said Friday it has appointed Milan Kovac, a globally renowned artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics expert, as an adviser, as the group seeks to strengthen its technology capabilities in the emerging fields, Yonhap News Agency reported.
Hyundai also named Kovac as a non-executive director of Boston Dynamics, the group's US-based robotics affiliate, where he will participate in strategic discussions on the company's robotics portfolio, including Spot and Atlas.
Kovac is a widely recognised technology expert with nearly two decades of experience in software, hardware and AI-driven robotics systems.
At Tesla, he led the development of humanoid robots and camera-based, vision-centric autonomous driving systems, overseeing key projects including the company's humanoid robot, Optimus.
Kovac will provide strategic advice to Hyundai Motor on AI and engineering, exploring opportunities to apply advanced AI and robotics across manufacturing, logistics and services.
"Boston Dynamics is an iconic company that has inspired a generation of technologists and is an integral part of America's robotics ecosystem," Kovac said, adding that combined with Hyundai Motor Group's industrial base, the two organisations are uniquely positioned to advance robotics across diverse applications.
