JOHOR BAHRU, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- The top management of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today paid a courtesy call on Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi at his official residence in Saujana, here.
The delegation was led by Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, and comprised Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, Acting Deputy Editor-in-Chief of News Services Mohd Shukri Ishak, Head of Corporate Strategy Mariati Mohd Arif, and Bernama Johor Bureau Chief Hasnah Jusid.
The meeting, which lasted about an hour, marked the first-ever engagement between Bernama’s top management and the Johor state government, and aimed to strengthen strategic relations and bilateral cooperation, particularly in the delivery of authentic, accurate and integrity-based information to the public.
Among the matters discussed were the potential for collaborative coverage and Bernama’s involvement in ensuring the success of the Visit Johor Year 2026 campaign, including the expansion of coverage focusing on tourism, the economy and the state’s development through both mainstream and digital media platforms.
The Bernama delegation also exchanged views with Onn Hafiz on the impact of the state’s rapid development and the implementation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), particularly from the perspective of the need for more in-depth, analytical and high-impact economic news coverage.
Tomorrow, Bernama will organise the National Journalists Day (HAWANA) 2025 Roadshow with Polytechnic Students Series 2 at Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan in Pasir Gudang, from 8 am to 4 pm.
The programme aims to raise public awareness, particularly among students, of the responsibilities of journalists in delivering accurate, ethical and integrity-based information, as well as in supporting national development through the dissemination of authentic news.
