Fire Destroys Three Squatter Houses At Kampung Bellamy

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 (Bernama) -- Three squatter houses were completely destroyed in a fire this morning at Jalan Kwangyi, Kampung Bellamy, near the Nirvana Cemetery grounds here.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Operations Centre said it received an emergency call at 7.38 am, prompting a team from Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue Station to rush to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the fire was found to have spread over an area of about 300 by 300 square feet. Apart from three houses, the fire also affected two refrigerated containers and two vehicles, which were completely damaged,” the department said in a statement today.

So far, Kuala Lumpur JBPM has not received any information on casualties. Eyewitnesses reported that no one was trapped or injured in the incident.

The fire was fully contained by 8.20 am, and the cause is currently under investigation by JBPM Fire Investigation Unit.
