APM Personnel Seriously Injured After Swerving To Avoid Dog

IPOH, Feb 4 (Bernama) -- A member of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Bagan Datuk was seriously injured after his vehicle skidded off the road while attempting to avoid a dog in Selekoh, Bagan Datuk early this morning.

In a statement, Bagan Datuk Civil Defence Officer Captain (PA) Mohd Fazly Mohamad Zawawi said his department received a call regarding the incident at 12.03 am.

He said the victim, identified as Hafizul Borhan, 25, was driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle when he lost control after a dog suddenly crossed the road, crashing into a telecommunications pole before hitting a tree.

Mohd Fazly said the victim sustained multiple serious injuries, including swelling to the heart and kidneys, fractures to seven ribs, intestinal damage, a fractured arm and fractures to both legs.

He said APM officers and personnel were immediately deployed to the scene to provide initial assistance before transporting the victim to Teluk Intan Hospital for further treatment.

“The victim underwent surgery at 11.50 am today and is currently sedated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Teluk Intan Hospital, with his condition still under observation,” he said.
