KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- The International Construction Week (ICW) & BuildXpo Malaysia 2026, themed “Beyond Limits”, will be held from Nov 10 to 12, 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
ICW Borneo 2026 will be held earlier, from May 12 to 13, 2026 in Kota Kinabalu.
Hosted by the Works Ministry and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, and managed by Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd, ICW & BuildXpo Malaysia 2026 focuses on innovation, digitalisation and collaboration in the construction industry.
Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the construction industry today operates in a vastly different landscape compared with even a decade ago, facing increasing project complexity, rising costs, tighter timelines, sustainability pressures and growing demand for a skilled, future-ready workforce.
“Digital tools that enable data-driven decision-making, along with emerging construction technologies, are no longer optional. They are now fundamental to competitiveness and resilience,” he said at the soft launch here today.
He said that since its inception in 1999, ICW has grown into the nation’s premier annual platform for the construction industry.
“Over the years, it has become a vital regional meeting point where innovations are showcased, knowledge is exchanged, partnerships are forged and new opportunities created,” he said.
He added that ICW & BuildXpo 2026 builds on this strong legacy and momentum, particularly following the success of last year’s edition.
“Last year’s event attracted 15,987 industry professionals and trade visitors over three days, while BuildXpo 2025 generated approximately RM1.41 billion in potential sales through business matching sessions, hosted programmes and on-site transactions,” he said.
Ahmad Maslan also said ICW Borneo 2026 is more than a regional activation, describing it as a national statement of inclusion, opportunity and shared progress.
“ICW Borneo serves as a vital platform to elevate regional participation, strengthen industry capabilities beyond the Klang Valley, and deepen cooperation across states and regions,” he said.
Qube Integrated Malaysia executive chairman Richard Teo said ICW and BuildXpo have grown beyond exhibitions and conferences into a key platform for industry collaboration.
“We place strong emphasis on showcasing the latest innovations and technologies, facilitating technical knowledge exchange, encouraging thought leadership discussions, and providing a launchpad for industry recognition and collaboration,” he said.
Teo said this positioning reflects what the industry increasingly needs, not just a place to buy and sell but a space to learn, adapt and future-proof businesses in a rapidly evolving construction landscape.
“More importantly, this partnership strengthens Malaysia’s position as a regional hub for construction and built environment innovation, while expanding opportunities for international collaboration, investment and knowledge exchange,” he said.
A key highlight for 2026 is the co-location of the Glasstech Asia and Fenestration Asia (GAFA) exhibition with ICW & BuildXpo at MITEC, marking a strategic collaboration between CIDB Malaysia, Qube Integrated Malaysia and MMI Asia Pte Ltd, the organiser of GAFA.
Commenting on this, MMI Asia chief executive officer Michael Wilton said the glass and facade industry is a vital component of the construction and built environment sector, with glass now playing a central role in energy efficiency, building performance, occupant comfort and sustainable urban development.
“Across Southeast Asia, demand for advanced glazing, intelligent facades, and high-performance fenestration is growing rapidly. This growth is driven by ambitious infrastructure projects, high-rise developments and smart building initiatives,” he said.
He added that Kuala Lumpur serves as an ideal hub for this alignment, supported by Malaysia’s continued focus on infrastructure development, urban growth and industry advancement.
