KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- Great Eastern Takaful Berhad (GETB) is stepping up its welfare outreach this Ramadan with the mySalam Ramadan Edition Tour, a nationwide initiative to support the B40 community through the distribution of iftar meals, essential goods and free health screenings.

In a statement, GETB said the tour kicked off around the Masjid Jamek area here, reaching out to the homeless community through the distribution of iftar meals and interaction sessions to better understand their daily challenges.

The programme later moved to Kuantan, Pahang, where a series of activities were held simultaneously, including a breaking of fast event with students of Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (UnIPSAS), a visit to an orphanage and the organisation of an Iftar Perdana at the Kuantan City Council (MBK) field, fostering a spirit of togetherness among the local community.

Head of mySalam Syuhaib Ithnin said the initiative reflects GETB’s continued commitment to supporting the B40 community in a more holistic manner, in line with the spirit of Ramadan which emphasises compassion and generosity.

“Through the mySalam Ramadan Edition Tour, we not only share rezeki, but also aim to ensure that the B40 community continues to receive attention, support and information on health protection provided by the government, while also listening to their voices and understanding their needs on the ground,” he said.

Meanwhile, in Damansara Damai, Selangor, the B40 Community Iftar programme was held in collaboration with Kedai Abang Tukang Masak and the local community, bringing together some 400 residents.

The programme also offered free health screenings under the PEKAB40 initiative, alongside the distribution of basic food baskets to selected B40 families, sponsored by the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA), to help ease the burden of rising living costs.

Also present at the event was Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Pua Pei Ling.

The tour also included visits to several hospitals across the Klang Valley, distributing date packs to health workers and patients, before concluding in Sabah with a programme supporting the e-hailing rider community in appreciation of their dedication and sacrifices throughout Ramadan.

Since its launch in 2019, the mySalam programme has assisted more than 1.9 million individuals, with total claims amounting to RM1.398 billion as of Feb 28, 2026, further reinforcing its role in expanding the nation’s social protection network.
