ARAU, March 19 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued 282 summonses to foreign vehicles for various offences during enforcement operations conducted in Padang Besar from January until yesterday.

Perlis JPJ director Noraini Mohd Nawi said enforcement was carried out through a series of operations, including at the entrance and exit points of the Padang Besar Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex yesterday.

“A total of 282 summonses were issued for various offences, namely driver licensing (71 summonses), vehicle licensing (70), technical issues (58), tinted glass (30) and other offences (53),” she said in a statement today.

Noraini said that based on records from 2025 to date, six foreign vehicles have been seized, while a van from Thailand was also forfeited for disposal.

She said enforcement will be further intensified ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, due to an expected increase in vehicles entering the country through border gates.

Noraini said that stern action without compromise will continue to be taken against foreign vehicles that do not possess an International Circulation Permit (ICP) or those found travelling beyond a two-kilometre radius from the national border.

She said strict measures will also apply to vehicles with outstanding summonses, especially those from Thailand entering the country through the Padang Besar and Wang Kelian border points.
