KANGAR, April 9 (Bernama) -- Five key aspects must be prioritised to improve SPM performance in Perlis, in line with the evolving education landscape, through a clear and comprehensive post-mortem.
The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, said the first is to review SPM performance for the current and previous years, including school and subject results, to identify areas that can be improved further.
“The second is to understand the differences in performance between urban and rural schools, as well as among students from different backgrounds, so that more students have equal opportunities to excel.
“Third, identify students who need extra support by looking at factors such as attendance, motivation, discipline, socio-economic background and family support, so that assistance can be more targeted and effective,” he said at an awards presentation ceremony for SPM 2025 and sports excellence.
Also present was the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said the fourth is to assess how effective existing intervention programmes are by looking at their impact on student performance and identifying best practices to expand.
“The fifth involves continuous improvement in teaching and learning, particularly in teaching approaches, use of modules and more systematic monitoring,” he said.
At the event, 51 SPM 2025 candidates received awards - three Excellence Awards, 10 Commendation Awards and 38 Special Awards, while two others were honoured for excellence in sports.
