KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 (Bernama) -- Indonesian top singles player, Jonatan Christie, believes that the withdrawal of several seeded players at the Malaysia Masters Tournament does not give him an advantage to end his title drought this season.
The fourth seed believes that all players participating in the tournament have an equal chance to become the champion of the Super 500 tournament.
"I think all players have an equal chance. I just want to focus on the next match," he said when met after the match today.
Earlier, Jonatan managed to advance to the second round of the Malaysia Masters after defeating Denmark's Magnus Johannesen 21-9, 21-15 in 40 minutes.
He will meet Taiwanese player, Wang Po Wei in the second round tomorrow to earn a ticket to the quarter-finals.
Commenting on today's match, Jonatan was happy that he managed to show the performance he wanted in his meeting with Magnus today.
He added that he had also forgotten the dark episode of Indonesia when they failed to advance to the knockout round at the Thomas Cup recently.
