IPOH, June 19 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) has allocated RM100,000 to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bendang Kering in Kuala Kangsar under the Sekolah Angkat MADANI school adoption initiative.

In a statement, KPK noted that the handover ceremony took place today at the school, officiated by KPK deputy secretary-general (Strategic Planning and Management), Shafie Taib.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM) is acting as the implementing agency for the adoption programme under the KPK, forming part of the ministry's ongoing commitment to supporting the national educational development and human capital empowerment agenda.

"The Sekolah Angkat MADANI programme is the MADANI Government’s strategic initiative aimed at strengthening access to quality education by upgrading school infrastructure, implementing academic improvement schemes, developing student character and leadership, and boosting digital learning facilities," the statement read.

The ministry added that the funds have already been put to work, financing upgrades for the school’s assembly area, main hall, reading corners, and preschool classrooms.

It said facilities such as interactive smartboards have also been provided to enable the teaching and learning process to be carried out in a more interactive, creative, and effective manner.

Air conditioning units, educational signage, and new classroom furniture have also been provided to foster a more comfortable, technology-driven learning environment, it said.

"The programme also encompasses the implementation of academic improvement initiatives, as well as student talent and leadership development, to help produce a knowledgeable, skilled, and competitive generation.

"The selection of SK Bendang Kering for the KPK's school adoption initiative reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that students in rural areas also enjoy quality, comfortable educational facilities that keep pace with contemporary educational developments," read the statement.

The ministry said that an academic performance scheme focusing on Malay, English, Science, and Mathematics has also been introduced, with support and incentives provided to motivate students who achieve outstanding academic results.

It is also focusing on building students' character and leadership skills through initiatives such as the Student Leadership Motivation Camp and the Student Talent Development Camp.

"KPK is confident that the implementation of the school adoption programme will continue to serve as an important platform in empowering education, closing the gap in access to learning facilities, and producing a knowledgeable, skilled, and competitive generation," read the statement.
