BUTTERWORTH, June 20 (Bernama) -- Media practitioners covering the National Journalists' Day (HAWANA) 2026 Summit at the PICCA @ Arena Butterworth Convention Centre praised the comprehensive and conducive media facilities, adding that it was instrumental in facilitating smooth news coverage.

Air Times News Network journalist Zaki Salleh, 38, said the open-concept Media@Work workspace was highly practical and user-friendly for media personnel.

“The media workspace provided here is excellent and comfortable. It is equipped with sufficient power outlets and, most importantly, adopts an open-space concept that is not restrictive, allowing media practitioners to move in and out more easily compared with the closed-room concept used at some other events,” he told Bernama, adding that PICCA offers significant advantages for organisers of large-scale events.

“Its location outside the island area makes it more accessible, as visitors do not have to contend with traffic congestion within the island,” he said.

Meanwhile, Radio Televisyen Malaysia cameraman Mohd Fairuz Azmi, 38, said the media centre's layout was more systematic, with the registration area separated from the media workspace, thereby reducing congestion and providing greater mobility for personnel.

“Alhamdulillah, everything is in good condition for us media personnel to carry out our work. The workspace is very comfortable, and there is ample parking available for visitors,” he said.

Meanwhile, RTM journalist Hidayah Anuar, 47, described the Media@Work facilities as meeting the requirements of large-scale event coverage, including the needs of international media representatives.

“The spacious environment and technical facilities provided help ensure smooth coverage operations,” she said.

Kosmo! journalist Luqman Ridhwan Mohd Nor, 38, also commended the logistical arrangements, including parking facilities and easy access to the venue, and hoped that the high-speed internet facilities available at the event would become a standard feature at future large-scale events.

Several other media practitioners suggested that more multimedia-friendly facilities, such as soundproof rooms for voice-over recordings and live broadcasts, be considered for future editions.

A total of 28 media organisations, including TV3, Radio Televisyen Malaysia, Sinar Harian and New Straits Times, were involved in covering the HAWANA 2026 Summit.
